FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long will it take to ship?

Shipments are processed within 24-72hrs business days.

Shipping will take 14-20 business days depending on your location in Canada.

Things like weather can delay shipments further.

What comes in the package?

Just packaging material and the device. No extra waste. There is no 'Phone box' that comes with it.

Does it fit a regular phone case?

It's built to the general size of a standard smartphone, so many off-the-shelf cases will fit, though we can't guarantee a perfect fit for every case brand or model.

Does it turn on, light up, or make any sound?

No. The Detox Device has no battery, no screen, and no speaker.

It won't light up, buzz, ring, or respond to touch.

What's it made of, and how much does it weigh?

It's molded from durable ABS plastic with a matte, non-glare finish and a real glass screen. It has no small removable parts.

It's weighted to match the heft of the same smartphone model so it feels right in a pocket or hand, not like an empty toy.

Will it fool people from across the room?

From across a room or a quick glance, yes, it reads as a real phone. Up close, the matte plastic build are more noticeable, which is by design.

It's meant to pass a casual glance (perfect for the gag-gift reveal and the "does my kid actually need the real thing" moment), not to withstand close inspection.

Does the device come with a product box?

No. The device is shipped by itself. It will be protected with a shipping box, but we do not offer product boxes for the devices.

Is it safe for a toddler?

It's as safe as allowing them to use your actual device.

It's built as one solid piece with no small, detachable parts, but has a similar glass screen.

As with anything given to a young child, we recommend adult supervision.

Can I customize the phone model or screen design?

The standard version ships in a universal modern-smartphone shape and neutral screen graphic that reads as "a phone" without mimicking any specific brand. If you're ordering in bulk for a corporate gift or event, contact us about custom screen-face printing.

What's the shipping and return policy?

Orders ship within [X] business days via [carrier]. If The Detox Device doesn't do exactly what you expected (which, to be fair, is nothing) you can return it unused within 30 days for a full refund. [Insert final shipping/return terms before launch.]

Do you offer bulk or gift pricing?

Yes. Orders of 10+ units qualify for bulk pricing, and we offer simple gift packaging for party favors, white elephant exchanges, and corporate novelty-gift orders. Contact us for a bulk quote or a custom packaging option.

Addiction and dummy phone questions

Does a dummy phone actually help with phone addiction?

Yes, for many people. A dummy phone satisfies the habit of reaching for a phone while removing the reward that keeps you scrolling. Over a week or two the habit loop starts to fade, because it stops paying out.

What is a dummy phone?

A dummy phone, sometimes called a decoy phone or dumbphone, is a realistic non-working replica.

Same size, weight, and feel as a real phone, but no screen, apps, or notifications. It gives your hand something to hold without the rabbit hole.

Why don't screen time limits work?

Screen time limits ask your brain to police itself in the exact moment it is least willing to do so.

Most people will tap past the warning and keep going, because the phone and the feed are still right there in their hand.

How long does it take to break a phone habit?

Most people feel a shift within a week of carrying a decoy and moving their real phone out of reach.

It will not happen overnight, but the first few days of reaching and finding nothing are the habit loop breaking.

Is doomscrolling really an addiction?

Doomscrolling behaves like one. The feed delivers unpredictable rewards, the same mechanism that makes slot machines hard to stop.

That is why willpower alone rarely fixes it, and changing your environment works better.

Can a dummy phone keep my toddler off my real phone?

Yes. A weighted, screen-free decoy gives little hands a convincing phone to carry and "call" on, without the risk of surprise app-store charges, cracked screens, or unwanted screen time.

As with anything given to a young child, we recommend adult supervision.
