About The Detox Device

I love technology. I always have. I am the person friends call when they need tech support, the early adopter who genuinely believes most of this stuff can make life better.

I also watched it quietly eat my evenings.

Not in a dramatic way. No rock bottom, no intervention. Just the small stuff. Reaching for my phone in the hallway. Checking it at a red light. Picking it up to look at one thing and surfacing twenty minutes later with no memory of what that thing was. I have built and love the very things that were doing it, which is a strange place to be.

Here is what I came to believe: the problem was never the phone. It was the pull. The feed is engineered to be bottomless, and no amount of willpower reliably beats a machine that is very good at its job. I tried the app timers. I tried the greyscale trick. I tried leaving my phone in another room, which lasted exactly as long as the first time I got bored.

Then something obvious hit me. Most of the times I grabbed my phone, I did not actually need my phone. I needed something to hold. My hand had a habit, and the phone just happened to be what it found.

Hence, the phone that does nothing!

The idea is almost stupidly simple

The Detox Device looks, weighs, and feels like a real phone. It just has nothing inside it to pull you in. No screen. No notifications. No feed waiting to swallow your night. When your hand goes looking in that quiet moment, it finds a phone, so the itch is scratched.

Nothing lights up, so the habit slowly stops paying out. You keep the ritual and lose the rabbit hole.

I am not anti-technology. I would be a hypocrite, and honestly, bored. This is not a lecture about screens or a guilt-tracking app that shames you every Sunday. It is one small, honest, slightly ridiculous object that hands you back a choice you did not realize you gave up.

Your attention is worth more than the feed pays for it. That is the whole point, and it is the entire product.

Thanks for being here. Now go put your device down. This one will hold your spot.
